The people of Beam Suntory are the custodians of brands with histories measured in centuries. In 1795, a farmer and grain mill operator named Jacob Beam produced the first barrel of whiskey that would become Jim Beam, the world’s #1 selling bourbon. Suntory was founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii, who produced the first whisky to suit Japanese palates.
Beam Suntory was created in 2014 by combining the world leader in Bourbon and the pioneer in Japanese Whisky to form a new company with deep heritage, passion for quality, innovative spirit and entrepreneurial culture. Headquartered in Chicago, Beam Suntory is a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings Limited of Japan.
Suntory has at its core a “Yatte Minahare!” spirit of dreaming big … the very same entrepreneurial spirit that built Beam for nearly 225 years and that guides Beam Suntory today as the world’s third-largest premium spirits company.
