Purpose
The West Herr Automotive Group is a unique organization that is dedicated to absolute excellence in customer service provided by honest, responsible and respectful people. Since the first West Herr dealership opened its doors in 1950, this has been more than a place to work. Our goal with all of our employees is to create career paths hopefully for their entire working life. We are a growing family that strives for excellence in everything we do. Not only selling and servicing vehicles, but in giving back to the community as well. We take our community role very seriously, and we are committed to giving back to the community that has supported us.
With many thanks to our 2,416 employees who share this philosophy. In 2021, West Herr will sell nearly 60,000 vehicles and service more than 470,000 vehicles, representing 23 franchises and 32 locations in Buffalo, Rochester, Canandaigua and Syracuse.
Our customer satisfaction efforts have earned us countless awards and recognition. West Herr has received Business First of Buffalo “Best Places to Work in WNY” for 17 consecutive years, and the Better Business Bureau “Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics” eight times, and our Rochester locations, have won Democrat and Chronicle for being a “Top Workplace” In Rochester, NY. In addition to those, many of our locations have applied on a dealership level and won the National Automotive News Best Places to Work Award – awarded to 100 dealerships throughout the entire nation.

We believe the success of the company is directly attributable to the experience that people have coming to work each day. We know that if the people who work here are happy, it transfers to a good experience for our customers. This in turn translates to positive relationships within our community.
There is trust between employees and the company that is communicated from the very first day on the job to everyone who joins the company. When dealing with customers, vendors or co-workers, every person who works for a West Herr dealership is trained to look at individual situations in a manner that answers the question, “What is the right thing to do?”
Whatever the “right thing to do” is, everyone, from the person who answers the phone, to the person who services your vehicle, to salespeople and managers, is empowered to do it. We believe that by empowering people, we can makes sure that our staff, customers, suppliers and vendors are treated in a fair and ethical manner at all levels of their experience with us. Additionally, our employees tell us that this ability to respond to individual situations in their own way reinforces why they want to come to work each day.
The West Herr Way also encompasses our philosophy in resolving customer concerns. Our President Scott Bieler has coined the phrase “better than even”. If we make a mistake and inconvenience a customer in any way, it is our responsibility to make the customer whole and then do something more.
