As part of our commitment to innovation, employees can participate in the Vertex Opportunities for Intrapreneurship and Corporate Evolution (VOICE) program, which is designed to encourage cross-functional collaboration and inventiveness. The program enables employees to "Challenge the Collective" by questioning how we can use innovative solutions to achieve our goals. In 2016, 61 cross-functional employee teams presented their ideas at the Collaboration Showcase. Following the showcase, employees were encouraged to continue working on their ideas in partnership with internal stakeholders. As a result, Vertex now has exploratory research programs, a 3D printing lab, iPad navigation kiosks to help employees find offices and conference rooms and a commuter bus program that has helped reduce traffic congestion in the Seaport.
Our Science and Medicine speaker series is a global, interactive program that connects employees to cutting-edge science and medical thought leaders from within, and outside of, Vertex. This series covers a variety of topics ranging from gene editing and novel approaches in cancer therapeutics to the latest developments in stem cell research.
Employees can recognize the achievements of their colleagues by nominating them for a Vertex Outstanding Contributor Award (VOCAP), which is our internal recognition program that highlights employees for demonstrating our core values and making a positive impact on our culture.
