VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is the tertiary care facility for New England providing comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, extended care and telehealth care services. These services are provided through a blend of VA and contracted providers, and delivered by engaged and collaborative teams supported by administrative services. Enrollment into our system begins a life-long relationship with Veterans and their families. Each patient is offered a primary care team to provide health promotion, health education, general disease management, and referrals as needed to other services throughout the continuum of care. It is this full spectrum, comprehensive, integrated system of care, in its entirety that is most critical to our organizational success. This longitudinal connection with Veterans is facilitated using a national electronic health record and is further complimented by engaged staff that feel privileged to provide care to our Nation’s Heroes. With nearly one quarter of our staff being Veterans or current military themselves, our engaged workforce are a significant factor that set us apart from private health care organizations.
Purpose
The VA Boston Healthcare System, the largest consolidated facility in VISN 1, encompasses 3 main campuses and 5 outpatient clinics within a 40-mile radius of the greater Boston area. The consolidated facility consists of the Jamaica Plain Campus, located in the heart of Boston's Longwood Medical Community; the West Roxbury Campus, located on the West Roxbury/Dedham line; and the Brockton Campus, located 20 miles south of Boston in the City of Brockton. In addition to the 3 main medical centers, the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) that make up the VA Boston Healthcare System (VA BHS) are located in Framingham, Lowell, Quincy, Plymouth and Causeway Street (Boston).
