University of Michigan Athletics Department
University of Michigan athletics date back to 1866 when baseball became the school’s first varsity athletic team. Today, we support 31 varsity teams and 930 student-athletes. We compete in the Big Ten Conference and Michigan annually ranks among the premier collegiate athletic programs in the nation, both on the field and in the classroom. Our department is 340 strong and our mission is clear: “Relentlessly Striving to Make Michigan Athletics the Leaders & Best in Every Way.” Our guiding principles define our unique culture and include; maintaining a great place to work, demanding integrity, winning championships, driving change, growth, preparing our student-athletes for success in life and creating “WOW” experiences for our department, student-athletes and fans. In FY 2013/2014, we will achieve annual revenues in excess of $149.8 million. This growth demonstrates our commitment to excellence and financial independence. Go Blue!
