United States Luggage Company (USL) is a third generation, privately-owned company with two distinct brands, Solo and Briggs & Riley.

Solo creates unique bags and tablet cases, selling to a diverse range of U.S. and international retailers, including mass merchants, e-tailers and department stores. Solo brand’s passion statement is to “save the planet one stylish bag at a time” and the brand’s target goal is to remove 40 million plastic bottles from landfills, turning them into stylish bags for customers with a millennial mindset.

Briggs & Riley is an internationally recognized luxury brand, offering high-performance luggage, business cases and everyday bags. Our overarching mission is to create lifelong customers who advocate passionately for our brand, a vow we take seriously with a lifetime guarantee, “Engineered for reality. Guaranteed for life.”

We are a family business and the word “family” means a lot. In our relationships with colleagues, vendors and customers, we strive to do things according to best practices with goals, budgets, well-defined processes, clear lines of authority. expectations of accountability and treating each other with "respect and dignity".

We believe "smart and steady" wins the race; a methodical approach to growth that has kept us healthy for 80 years. But by not being a public company or being owned by private equity investors, we also have the luxury to act from the heart with a long-term lens.

We have "humility" because a successful team requires the interdependence of many roles, not individual superstars. Values

How USL supports the local community & takes social responsibility seriously
Tying into our family-centric philosophy, USL is dedicated to being socially responsible to the environment and in the communities in which we live. USL has a "Spirit Committee" to identify organizations that we can help in our communities. Over the last 20 years we have raised over $450,000 for JDRF, donated to the "Make A Wish" Foundation, the Marty Lyons Foundation, United Jewish Appeal (UJA), Cradle of Aviation, LI's Air & Space Museum, donated over 3,300 backpacks to Comfort Cases and participated in the 2023 Earth Day Islip Town Clean Up.

Besides making donations to important organizations in the community, USL takes our social responsibility seriously which is demonstrated with our "lifetime guarantee" on our Briggs & Riley products and our use of recyclable bottles with our Solo products. At our corporate office, we have installed solar panels, replaced water coolers with water refill stations, and implemented a corrugated recycling program and clothing donation initiative.
