We call it the Manager Effectiveness Index (MEI): Twice a year, as part of our global employee engagement survey, employees are asked to rate their direct manager in 18 questions across four key categories that we believe make for a great manager: communication; support; empower; and development. Managers then receive an anonymous report showing where their team rated them in the various categories, as well as where they fall compared to the rest of the people managers in the organization. From there, managers work with their HR business partners to communicate the scores to their team and take action to improve as leaders. In the year after Kronos implemented MEI, global engagement scores raised three points after a three-year plateau to an all-time high of 87 percent!
