U. S. Probation, Eastern District of Wisconsin
The US Probation and Pretrial Services System is a national system of employees, who include probation and pretrial services officers and officer assistants; information technology, budget and human resources professionals; and support staff. US Probation for the Eastern District of Wisconsin represents approximately the eastern one-third of our state. We are one of two districts within the state of Wisconsin, and one of ninety-three districts within the United States. Our main office is located in Milwaukee with a satellite office in Green Bay.
US Probation is part of the US District Courts and represents the community corrections arm of the federal judiciary. Our mission is to assist the federal courts in the fair administration of justice; protect the community; and bring about long-term positive change in individuals under supervision.
US Probation officers, considered the “eyes and ears” of the federal courts, investigate and supervise persons charged with or convicted of federal crimes. Officers gather and verify information about persons who come before the courts and prepare reports that the courts rely on to make release and sentencing decisions.
