At Typhoon Texas, our mission is to provide guests with moments worth repeating. We strive to do that through five moment making keys: texas-friendly, intentionality, safe, clean, and fun. What is Texas-friendly? Texas-friendly is the concept that you have never met a stranger. It’s about being welcoming and hospitable. It’s treating people as guests not customers. Typhoon Texas is our home. We want everyone who comes through our gates to feel enthusiastically welcomed and intentionally served.
In 2017, Typhoon Texas' Rising Star Program was honored with the IAAPA Brass Ring Award in Human Resources Excellence: Best Employee Reward and Recognition Program. The Rising Star Program recognizes team members who achieve excellence in one of our five Moment-Making Keys: Intentionality, Texas-Friendly, Safe, Clean, or Fun. Rising Stars are nominated based on observations of park leadership, team members, secret shoppers, and guest comments. Our Rising Stars are awarded with a certificate, complimentary friends and family passes to Typhoon Texas, and a blue star pin to display on their uniform. Rather than recognize our Rising Stars in meetings, we present their award during their shifts where guests can participate in the recognition. The presentations, which range from surprising the team member at the front gate window to sliding down a waterslide with a guard's award, are filmed and uploaded to YouTube and Facebook later in the week. Through this award-winning program, our outstanding team members receive both internal and external recognition for their hard work and dedication to making moments worth repeating.
At Typhoon Texas, we love to reward our team members for a job well done. We do this through four facets:
1.In-Park Benefits: All Typhoon Texas team members receive a 30% discount at food and beverage establishments throughout the park. They also have the opportunity to obtain friends and family passes throughout the summer. Our management team rewards excellent performance each week with a free Typhoon Texas treat or a gift card to a local restaurant. Last but not least, our team members can visit the park on their day off for free!
2.Team-Member Development Initiatives: At Typhoon Texas, we want to invest in our team members beyond their employment at the park. That desire lead to the creation of the Tack Program: a series of career and life skills training sessions which give team members the “tools” to achieve long-term success as young professionals, regardless of whether or not they are considering a career in the aquatics industry. Our park leadership and guest speakers engage with team members in a fun, dynamic, and interactive way while presenting topics such as achieving personal goals, how to be an influencer, and coping with failure.
3. Team Member Appreciation Nights: Every season, Typhoon Texas hosts four team member appreciation nights. Team members can enjoy the park with their co-workers without having to wait in a line! Team Member Appreciation Nights also include music, food, and raffles.
