Toledo Museum of Art
The Toledo Museum of Art is an internationally known art museum located in the Old West End neighborhood of Toledo, Ohio. It houses a collection of more than 30,000 objects. With 45 galleries, it covers 280,000 square feet and is currently in the midst of a massive multiyear expansion plan to its 40-acre campus. The Peristyle, a 1750-seat concert hall in the east wing, is the principal concert space for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and holds the museum's Masters series. A sculpture garden containing primarily postwar works was added in 2001. A Center for Visual Arts, designed by Frank Gehry, was added in 1990. It includes the museum's library as we as studio, office and classroom space for the art department of the University of Toledo. In 2000, the museum chose the architectural firm of SANAA to design a new building to house TMA's glass collection. In 2006, the Glass Pavilion opened to considerable critical acclaim.
Purpose
We believe our mission, to integrate art into the lives of people, undertaken holistically and refracted through our 4 core values of diversity, community, innovation and trust will help us achieve our vision.
The Toledo Museum of Art’s efforts to operationalize its commitment to quality and its culture of belonging is supported by four strategic objectives, which themselves contain supporting programs and underlying projects. The objectives and programs are Active Community Outreach and Engagement; Broaden the Narrative of Art History; Become an Employer of Choice; and Create a Platform for Operational Excellence. An active approach to community outreach not only increases the level of offsite programming but in doing so, it allows TMA employees to create personal relationships and invite program participants individually to visit the Museum. To mitigate the effects of other barriers (ex: transportation) and to ensure that these efforts drive impact, TMA is maintaining a focus on the two-mile radius immediately around the Museum.

Additional Culture Details
The goal of the Toledo Museum of Art team is to embrace change and deliver on the promise to respond actively to and create meaningful content around shared realities. TMA will expand our view of quality to tell a truly global and inclusive art history, while also ensuring that our outreach, our visitor experience, our team, and our suppliers reflect our Northwest Ohio community. This change will be systemic and structural. We will build change from the inside out, putting people and processes first and empowering our dedicated team to develop engaging and inclusive programming. In doing so, we will create a sense of comfort and openness - a culture of belonging - that will permeate everything we do.
