The Ruhlin Company
Founded on a philosophy of partnership, Ruhlin has been translating client visions into reality for over a century. Established in 1915, Ruhlin began as a general contractor serving the commercial and industrial markets of Northeast Ohio. In 1955, we expanded into the civil market, constructing bridges, roads, sewers, and water treatment facilities across Ohio. Further diversification followed with the resurrection of our Industrial Division in 2003 and our Structural Division in 2006. We regularly work in the healthcare, collegiate, education, and civic markets. The strength of Ruhlin lies in its people. Our team is composed of construction experts who bring decades of knowledge and skill to every project. Many of our employees have dedicated their entire careers to Ruhlin, with multiple generations of families proudly carrying on the tradition of excellence. Their dedication is reflected not only in the projects we build but also in our culture of integrity, respect, and teamwork.
Purpose
The Ruhlin Company exists for the benefit of the customer, the employees, the stockholders, and the community. We provide our customers with quality, on-schedule construction services at competitive prices - always mindful that the customer pays our costs and is entitled to fair and honest treatment. We provide employment that is challenging and rewarding and give our employees the opportunity to contribute to their full potential. We provide our stockholders with a return on net worth consistent with the risks involved. And to our community, we endeavor to be an outstanding example of corporate citizenship and a leader in this respect in our field.
Mission
The Ruhlin Company will provide high quality, cost effective and safe construction services with unwavering integrity while exceeding the expectations of our customers and sustaining profitable growth for the benefit of our employee-owners.
Additional Culture Details
Beginning with our founder, John G. Ruhlin, we believe in treating our employees with respect and we are all part of something special. Every employee is involved in our overall success. To continue the culture of shared success, the Company began an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 1977 which has resulted in over 81% of the company’s common stock being held by its active employees. As employee-owners we have a stake in the profitability of the Company and are empowered to make decisions that will benefit our clients and the Company. As an ESOP, we are always striving to work safely, reduce project costs, increase quality, provide training for our employees and continuously improve our construction methods.
