At PI, our leadership is very transparent about everything! Our mission, vision, goals, expectations and finances...everything. We hold monthly All Company meetings where we exchange updates, trends on how we are performing etc. These meetings routinely end with a town-hall where employees can submit questions (in person or anonymously) about anything - and they sure ask anything! Our President and CEO share what is going right and keeping them up at night. Our CEO holds small group meetings with employees, these are unscripted meetings to see what is top of mind and answer any questions. We are very intentional in our company culture and core values. These are communicated early in the interview process and talked about ALL THE TIME. In fact, everyone in the company has a year-end bonus. Each employee determines how much of their bonus they receive - simply by their contributions to our core values - not their individual performance (although our employees are amazing and they are all performers! - they don't even tell their manager how much they are getting - this is kept within HR).
We also have a philosophy around compensation that is very transparent. We basically want to take it off the table. We want employees to come in feeling valued everyday, we never want an engagement issue to be about a discrepancy in pay. Because of this we usually pay above market. We are not about face-time, we believe that employees are adults and we trust them. As long as they are doing their job, we don't care how and when they are doing it - we focus on results. This allows employees the flexibility to manage their life outside of work - we care about the whole employee - not just the work employee. We have a saying ""errors of action are better than errors of inaction"" - this empowers employees to do their jobs and make decisions without the fear of a negative consequence. So, in addition to all of these reasons, we also are always hosting lunch and learns, have a stocked fridge, bring in ice cream, and are really open to any ideas to keep our employees engaged.
One truly unique aspect of PI is we use our product to ensure we are hiring and retaining the right people for the right job. All of our employees are passionate about our product and use it to make themselves and the product better on a daily basis. PI helps put people in roles that play to their behavioral strengths and because we use the product, our people are in positions that motivate them and are aligned with their natural strengths - you can feel this energy when walking through our doors. Everyone who walks in, employee, client, vendor or candidate - can sense it and wants to be a part of it.
