The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland’s mission is to secure justice and resolve fundamental problems for those who are low income and vulnerable by providing high quality legal services and working for systemic solutions.
Legal Aid’s clients are provided with legal assistance from Legal Aid’s staff attorneys who have expertise in a wide range of substantive legal areas. Representation provides access to justice and preserves clients’ rights. Legal Aid’s attorneys are organized into substantive units: consumer; housing; HEWII (health, education, work, income and immigration); and family law. By organizing in substantive units Legal Aid ensures that clients receive high quality legal assistance by attorneys with expertise and experience. Legal Aid’s clients are also provided representation through the Volunteer Lawyers Program. Through the Volunteer Lawyers Program pro bono (volunteer) attorneys expand Legal Aid’s resources beyond its staff attorneys to address client needs.
