Best Point Education and Behavioral Health
With over 348 collective years of serving children following parallel paths, St. Aloysius and The Children’s Home officially merged on February 21, 2022.
The St. Aloysius Orphanage was founded in 1832 to serve young people orphaned by the cholera epidemic. With the city paralyzed by economic recession and area riots stemming from the Civil War, The Children’s Home began in 1864 to serve abandoned children suffering from severe neglect. Both organizations provided a warm and stable environment created by passionate caregivers. As the needs of families and young people began to change, each organization revolutionized their models of providing care in the 20th century.
Today, the agencies are combined as Best Point Education & Behavioral Health. Coming together to provide an array of 40+ services to address increasingly complex behavioral, emotional, and educational needs of t vulnerable members of our community, the agency serves 18,000 children & families a year.
