Texas811 is a non-profit corporation funded by and providing underground utility line notification service to member utilities and municipalities throughout the state.
Prior to the formation of One-Call centers, anyone excavating had to make numerous calls to notify all applicable entities who might have lines buried in the vicinity of their dig project.
To help solve that problem, organizational meetings were held in Dallas in 1982 and 1983, and Texas811 was incorporated in 1984.
The Texas811 center handles incoming locate requests and outbound utility notifications in a professional, courteous, efficient, timely, and accurate manner, always maintaining a high degree of integrity among our customers, our members, the communities we serve, and ourselves.
The Texas811 center operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, answering 2.5 million requests in 2014.
