Spectrum Health & Human Services
Purpose
Founded in 1973, Spectrum Health & Human Services’ mission is to respectfully partner with adults, children, and families as they recover from behavioral, emotional, mental health, and/or substance abuse-related disorders; and to promote hope, empowerment and self-defined improvements in their quality of life. Spectrum Health is also a Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC), a provider type in Medicaid, designed to provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services to vulnerable individuals.
Vision
We live our agency core values in everything we do for our clients and for our staff as a team. Our core values – accountability, empowerment, diversity, ethics, excellence, and respect – are apparent in the innovative programs we develop and our collaborations with other like-minded agencies. Within the past year, we’ve reached out to three high-need urban communities to launch service-based partnerships with a Boys & Girls Club location, Buffalo City Mission, and the WNY Human Service Collaborative, a unique venue on Buffalo's far east side that is creating a ‘one-stop’ center for people in need in the urban core.
Mission
To respectfully partner with adults, children, and families as they recover from behavioral, emotional, mental health, and/or substance abuse-related disorders by offering individualized and meaningful opportunities of hope, empowerment, and support to achieve self-defined improvements in their quality of life.
Additional Culture Details
Innovation is welcomed and celebrated. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we immediately launched an Emergency Response Team to meet our clients’ needs on their own terms as needed. We created an online forum for staying connected called the Community of Caring, a series of daily online engagements to keep participants physically and mentally active. Craft classes, yoga practice, dance, mindfulness, and therapeutic group engagements are free and open to the public. Our employees appreciate our flexible work schedule which encourages work-life balance. We help create community within our worksites and our agency: cross-program committees help eliminate work silos and promote esprit de corps that make employees know how they are valued and appreciated. Our workforce is racially, ethnically, and gender-diverse, too. Beyond the facts and metrics, we’re a team of good, decent people who find challenge and reward in working together to make our community and society a better, healthier place.
