South Texas College of Law Houston (STCL Houston) — a private, independent, ABA-accredited law school — has educated some of the nation’s sharpest legal minds for nearly a century. It is also Houston’s oldest law school and the first in Texas to grant a J.D. degree.
The law school develops some of the country’s best litigators, advocates, negotiators, and transactional lawyers, but also empowers every student with something equally valuable: The unshakable notion that a legal education is a tool for making the world a better place.
In 2017, The Chronicle of Higher Education recognized STCL Houston as a national “Great College to Work For,” based on a survey of 232 colleges and universities. The law school also received the publication’s distinct Honor Roll designation — among only 42 institutions in the country and 10 in the small universities grouping — based on the number of categories in which the law school was recognized.
