In 2008, a group of South Carolina parents, business owners, and community leaders came together with a bold vision: to create an innovative school that would transform the educational landscape in the Palmetto State. Designed as an online school from the very beginning, this new model also featured a personalized learning platform that expanded access to high-quality education for students across South Carolina, regardless of their zip code.
This approach allowed students to enroll in courses at any time of the year, move through their coursework at a pace that fit their individual needs, and even graduate high school early if they chose. That vision became a reality with the founding of South Carolina (SC) Whitmore School.
The concept was met with strong support, and in 2010, SC Whitmore School was granted a charter by the South Carolina Public Charter School District. The school officially opened its doors in 2011. Since then, SC Whitmore School has proudly graduated more than 1,400
