As one of the oldest firms in St. Louis and the oldest grease and oil company west of the Mississippi, Schaeffer Manufacturing Company indeed holds a special place in the St. Louis community.
Founded in 1839, Schaeffer originally produced soap, candles as well as greases and oils for wagon trains and steamboats. Times and technology changed. So did Schaeffer. Since then, we’ve developed many of the current concepts in lubrication, including advanced additives for performance, friction modifiers for fuel economy and synthetics for extended lubricant life.
Our diverse product line, which is produced in St. Louis, has achieved a world-class reputation for improving engine performance and fuel economy. Schaeffer primarily sells direct to our customers in a variety of industries, including construction, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, industrial, commercial and municipal fleets, trucking and racing. Our home office and plant employees support our 500 sales reps located across the country.
