San Antonio River Authority
The State of Texas has empowered the San Antonio River Authority (SARA) to preserve, protect and manage the resources and environment of the San Antonio River and its tributaries. SARA’s district spans Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad Counties, yet concern for the quality and quantity of water extends SARA’s focus beyond these boundaries. SARA’s mission is to protect and enhance our creeks and rivers through service, leadership and expertise, and its vision is inspiring actions for healthy creeks and rivers.
While SARA functions as a diversified, matrix organization, there are five major service areas within the agency: flood risk management, environmental sciences and water quality, water resources, utility services and park services. SARA staff is passionately committed to the preservation, protection and sustainability of the San Antonio River Watershed. This passion to serve is driven by SARA’s core values of stewardship, integrity and excellence, which are espoused by all employees throughout the agency.
