San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind
For nearly 82 years, the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind (SALB) has helped people who are blind to live high quality, independent lives. We do this by providing programs, services, and employment opportunities that increase independence and self-sufficiency. Last year, we provided services to more than 6,000 blind individuals, enabling them to be productive, tax-paying citizens, rather than joining the ranks of the unemployed. SALB is the largest employer of people who are blind in Texas, and our blind-staffed manufacturing plant currently employs more than 200 blind individuals who enjoy competitive wages and excellent benefits.
SALB is committed to the philosophy of helping persons who are blind to help themselves, and we strive to meet the individual needs of each person who seeks assistance from us. Our philosophy promotes the idea that people who are blind can and should be productive, contributing, independent members of our community, and society at large.
Our mission is to "Empower the blind and visually impaired, " and to this end, we regularly review our policies and programs in an effort to make continuous improvements and offer the highest quality services to our employees and clients.
