St. John Medical Center, a Catholic Hospital that is co-owned by the Sisters of Charity Health System and University Hospitals, has provided residents of western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties with quality health care since 1981. The 194-bed acute care hospital is a level III trauma center and its emergency department has achieved accreditation as a primary stroke center and chest pain center. The UH Seidman Cancer Center at St. John Medical Center opened last July, the cancer center offers a wide range of services to assure that local patients and their families can receive exceptional cancer care closer to home. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) has Granted Three Year Accreditation with Commendation to the Cancer Program at St. John Medical Center. We recently began to offer the InQuicker online system that allows individuals to schedule for the ER, reducing wait times. Other advances include; a new low-dose computed tomography system (CT) that is considered one of the most advanced in the industry and added stereotactic breast biopsy to its arsenal in diagnosing breast cancer.
