On March 7, 1935, twelve federal government workers pooled their money to form the National Federation of Federal Employees Local No. 28, one of
the first credit unions in San Antonio. Due to expanded membership, in 1949 Local #28 CU became Government Employees Credit Union (GECU) and in
1987, it became San Antonio Credit Union (SACU), adding “federal” in 1989 to reflect its new charter. Today, it is known as SACU. Our emphasis on
