John Combs formed RiverRock Real Estate Group in 2003 in response to a market-driven need for a more client-centric property service model. Now 110-employees strong, RiverRock is celebrating its 15th year in business. RiverRock services more than 29 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties throughout California and Arizona from its 24 regional offices. When John started RiverRock he focused a lot of time and attention on employee surveys, finding out what they wanted. With jobless rates at an all-time low it is very tough to recruit much less retain talent. This has proven to be RiverRock’s advantage point in the industry. John Combs believes happy people give better service. And at RiverRock there are very loyal employees who others want, but they choose to make RiverRock their home. The company mission expresses this idea: We provide superior management services by inspiring our RockStars to be exceptional in all they do, earning the highest level of confidence from every client.

We believe that happy people make RiverRock a best place to work. Our key for keeping people happy is finding out what they want in an employer and a workplace and then implementing those requests. Most of our supplemental benefits (outside the traditional benefits of health and time off) have come through suggestions from our RockStars. We have an open door policy that encourages communication throughout the company as well as regular feedback through surveys and employee forum calls where employees talk specifically on how to improve RiverRock. We just recently instituted a gym subsidy program that was requested from several employees. We want our RockStars to be happy at work so they can give our clients their best!
