Established in 1963, PRS, Inc.is recognized as one of the 50 Best Nonprofits to work for in the US and exists so that individuals living with mental illness, substance use disorders, mild intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and anyone who faces life crises can achieve safety, personal wellness, recovery and community integration. PRS is a community-based organization providing services throughout Northern Virginia and in the District of Columbia. In response to the community’s growing needs and the changing mental health landscape we provide services in Employment, psycho-educational “Recovery Academy”, Crisis Hotline and Text program and new Specialty Care programs. CrisisLink offers free 24-hour support to individuals through hotline and a textline, CrisisLink handled over 39,000 calls and over 6,000 texts where 42% of texts were suicide-related. Our new Specialty Care programs reach young adults (16 –30 years old) who experience their first episode of psychosis.
