Primera is a full-service, woman-owned engineering design and consulting firm focused on four major areas of expertise: Buildings, Transportation, Utilities, and Business Consulting. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Primera offers a wide range of professional services in the disciplines of power engineering, protection & controls, transportation, architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil engineering, as well as commissioning, construction management, and business consulting primarily in the Midwest, Texas, and the Northeast United States.

Our current CEO, Erin Inman, introduced her vision for Primera shortly after purchasing the firm from our retiring co-founders in 2016. It was to transform Primera into an entrepreneurial culture of highly-motivated, highly-accountable, people-focused people that will drive our mission of providing exceptional expertise with superb service to our clients, while contributing to the achievement of our strategic goals. In the time since, Primera has started transitioning to an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and introduced the Great Game of Business as the vehicle for practicing open-book management. Both are meant to encourage people to think, act, and feel like owners - because we are!
Our mission was set by our co-founders and has remained the heart of what we aim to do for our clients: deliver exceptional expertise with superb service. It's a simple concept, but we believe the brightest minds in the business combined with the ultimate customer experience make the very best in the business.

We have a host of employee committees dedicated to maintaining a great culture, including employee satisfaction, client satisfaction, quality, fun, giving back, and wellness in the workplace, among others. One of our firms stated core behaviors is BE FRIENDLY. This applies to how we treat one another as well as our clients, but it also means that we encourage fun in the workplace. Our Super Fun committees plan regular events throughout the year that promote and encourage interaction, team building and an exciting environment, including bridge building contests during national engineers week, employee outings, sporting events, happy hours, pi day pie contests, and many others. Our other core behavior is SEEK AND SHARE KNOWLEDGE. We've created an environment that encourages employees to learn as often as they can and share what they know with one another.
