Pleasantrees
Founded in 2018, Pleasantrees is devoted to setting new standards for the cannabis industry. With dedication to not only cultivating premier cannabis, but also relationships with our customers, and the community that supports us.
Purpose
Unlike many more established industries in America, participating in Michigan’s fast-evolving cannabis industry also gives Pleasantrees the chance to do “good” while it does “well.” Cannabis is an incredible plant with the power to help make anyone’s day a little brighter. For some of our friends, cannabis is an important medicine; for others, it’s a pleasant daily ritual that elevates their mood, sparks creativity, and helps wash away stress. Aside from helping our customers find high quality, safe cannabis products and use them appropriately, Pleasantrees provides its team members with upward professional mobility and its financial supporters with a healthy return that pays homage to the faith they placed in us. For Pleasantrees employees, it’s about providing them with not just a job, but a career – a path that benefits not just themselves, but their families with health care and ample advancement opportunities in a booming industry.
Another, and perhaps one of the most important reasons we exist, is to meaningfully connect with our communities. Whether it’s simply helping a neighbor in need, providing scholarships to students, or standing up in solidarity alongside a person negatively impacted by the “War on Drugs”, we strive to answer the call at every turn. We care deeply about all of this, all the time, and use our sense of corporate, social, and political responsibility as a guide when navigating the wild and wacky world of legalized cannabis.

Vision
Honestly, to some degree for all of us, we are products of our environments. Undoubtedly, many of those who lived during the time in our country where cannabis was legal never would have believed that prohibition was on the horizon, and that it would be unequally and unfairly applied. Similarly, those who lived through the “War on Drugs” era may not have believed we would be living in a world today where a thriving legal industry would exist around this product while those formerly prosecuted remain in prison cells. The common denominator? Belief. Vision takes foresight to see the future and then a genuine belief that it will come to pass.
At Pleasantrees, we are looking forward and remaining steadfast to do the work right now. We do what is necessary to make today better than yesterday and tomorrow better than today. This approach is precisely what our predecessors undertook in order to advance society to its current state. Looking ahead, we believe that a world will exist where cannabis does not have the negative stigma so long associated with it. We believe that those who were disproportionately impacted by criminalization will not only get opportunities and access to the industry, but be impactful leaders and decision makers. And we believe that our culture will be more accepting of the plant as a whole, understanding its positive and beneficial properties. While this vision comes to fruition, we will strive to be the change we wish to see in the world.

Mission
Pleasantrees is committed to cultivating the highest-quality cannabis with an honest, Midwestern approach — working hard so our friends can enjoy more of life’s pleasures.
Additional Culture Details
To summarize our ideal culture in one phrase it would be: “A place where you are celebrated, not tolerated.” Although simple, we know that attaining this reality from an organizational standpoint is much easier said than done. People presume that working for a well-established cannabis company would be a dream job. To be sure, for many of us, it is. But, it is also very hard work. Pleasantrees makes substantial initial investments with considerable focus on employee empowerment, retention, and internal advancement. Building a strong team, and then keeping it healthy and thriving, is one of the keys to success in cannabis.
Pleasantrees focuses on recruiting qualified candidates for the long-term. Hiring the right people takes time, persistence, and attention to detail. We employ numerous methods to identify the right people for a given job, and then work to bring those people in and keep them happy, motivated, and productive. In addition to a slew of tremendous benefits and competitive wages, Pleasantrees is one of, if not the first, Michigan cannabis companies to launch a major “Employee Incentive Plan” which to date has issued issued 10% of its equity ownership to over fifty employees. For the vast majority if not all those employees, this is the first time they have ever “owned” part of a business – a fact which brings great joy to the company’s leadership team.
