Employees are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions and participate on various teams to further enhance the employee, customer and/or community experience. We are an active body of employees who enjoy spending time collaborating at work, as well as many folks socialize after hours. We have regular methods of communication: daily open door policy throughout the Bank, monthly employee newsletter, quarterly employee events to celebrate others successes, semi-annual all-employee meetings with Tom Amell, President/CEO as well as an annual Employee Appreciation event, just to name a few.

We invest significant resources ensuring the environment in which our employees work is “world-class”, by constructing a beautiful new 60,000 square foot headquarters centrally located in Colonie, with a fully equipped fitness center available 24/7 for all bank employees.

We concentrate on wellness for our employees by offering health-minded snacks and drinks in vending machines in our Bistro/Breakroom, we schedule fitness instructors to facilitate exercise classes in our facilities before, during and after work, we offer organized walks to Colonie Crossings during employees work hours so that they can get up and move around during the week, and we regularly communicate information on wellness and fitness to our employees to help improve their lives.

We offer our employees the opportunity to acquire industry specific skills and build their skill set so that they are successful in their personal and professional lives. We invest significant resources to enhance a bank-wide learning culture by providing learning opportunities utilizing a corporate university called Imagine University.

We are committed to recognizing our employees for not only doing a great job at work but their accomplishments outside as well. We support variable compensation plans to recognize, reward and incent our employees who assist our customers in offering products and services that best fit their needs.

We support various employee events such as a softball team and include all employees in various recognition programs throughout the year, such as an annual Employee Appreciation event in January as well as a picnic with the Valley Cats each summer.

We develop strategies to promote and achieve a culture of organizational excellence and employee engagement and recognition. We implemented a quarterly bank-wide recognition program that supports and recognizes the ideals of our IMAGINE culture as witnessed throughout the Bank. We instigated annual award programs based on job performance as well as achievement of sales goals for our Solution Center/Back office employees and retail employees, respectively.

We have a high percentage of employees (46%) with over 5 years of service with Pioneer. This illustrates our commitment to supporting and engaging employees while building a culture where they can thrive and be effective employees, community residents, and family members at home.
