Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation
Purpose
For more than 118 years, the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation has provided superior care, in a warm and supportive environment, within the New York Metropolitan Region. Parker’s roots date back to 1907, and since then, the Institute has expanded access to advanced health care and rehabilitation, with compassion and dedication. Parker continues to increase access to care and to add services that enhance the lives of older adults, whether they are patients or residents at the Institute’s expansive campus, or they are aging in place. Parker’s robust services include Short-Term Rehabilitation, Long-Term Care, Community Health Services, Palliative Care and Hospice, Home Care, an Indian Cultural Unit and Parker at Your Door. By housing the Queens-Long Island Renal Institute, Parker ensures residents requiring dialysis receive critical treatment on-site, removing transportation barriers and enhancing continuity of care, while also serving local community members in need of dialysis. Parker is also home to PRINE Health, a provider of advanced vascular services, making the Institute the only skilled-nursing facility in the region with a vascular center for surgery onsite.
Vision
As New York’s population ages, more older adults and their families will turn to Parker for comprehensive health care services. To meet this demand, Parker will enhance its position as a trusted regional resource. Leading in patient-centered health care and technology, Parker will advance its role in teaching and geriatric research. With its medical team, Parker will build on its reputation as a skilled nursing facility. As a provider of community-based health care, including Home Health Care, Medical House Calls, Palliative Care, and Hospice, Parker will adapt to evolving needs. The Nerken Center for Research and Grants will grow as a global leader in teaching and geriatric research, sharing innovations internationally. The Therapeutic Recreation Department will develop dynamic programs to engage patients and residents for optimal health. Parker will continue to house the Queens-Long Island Renal Institute, offering top-notch care led by an interdisciplinary team of experts.
