Open Door Health Services
Purpose
Open Door Health Services is a not-for-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center. Our teams provide comprehensive primary, urgent, and preventive healthcare services, as well as social support programs. We care for individuals and families throughout East Central Indiana regardless of their health insurance status. ODHS offers services through multiple locations in Muncie and Anderson.
Vision
Open Door Health Services is the preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live.
Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life of others. We strive to create a better life and future for others, and ourselves, by enhancing the communities where we live, work, and play.
Additional Culture Details
Open Door Health Services has been in the Muncie community since 1974, although we have been known by several different names, including Open Door Health Clinic and Open Door/BMH Health Center.
When the clinic first opened, it was staffed by one nurse and physicians from the residency program at Ball Memorial Hospital. Over the past three decades, Open Door has grown by leaps and bounds. In the last ten years, the growth has become even more pronounced. In 2000, Open Door served 6,272 individuals. In 2016, 20,239 received care at one of Open Door’s locations throughout East Central Indiana.
Unfortunately, though, we are still not providing care to every uninsured or underinsured person in East Central Indiana. In fact, in 2014, there were approximately 126,435 people who were uninsured or underinsured and eligible for our services living in East Central Indiana without access to affordable health care.
