North Shore Senior Center
North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) is a nationally-accredited organization that offers a comprehensive suite of services for older adults, from the most independent to those needing more support. Services include specialized care for people living with dementia, educational and wellness programs, social services, support groups, caregiver resources, counseling, personal financial services and volunteer opportunities. Last fiscal year more than 22,000 individuals in the northern Chicago suburbs received 117,700 hours of service through Senior and Family Services, House of Welcome Adult Day Services and Senior Options. NSSC also provides in-person and online classes, clubs, entertainment and fitness & wellness programs, with more than 23,500 enrollments in the last fiscal year.
Purpose
North Shore Senior Center's purpose is to serve older adults—from the most independent to those needing more support—and their families through social services, specialized care for people living with dementia, educational and wellness programs, support groups, caregiver resources, counseling, personal financial services and volunteer opportunities. NSSC collaborates with community and corporate partners to bring needed programs and services to its constituents. NSSC welcomes adults of all ages, races, ethnicities, religious traditions and spiritual practices, genders and sexual orientations.
Mission
The mission of North Shore Senior Center is to foster the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self respect, and promote their participation in and contribution toward all aspects of community life.
