Neighbors Bank
Our story is one of paradox. In 1945, Clarence State Bank received its charter and in 2018 we became Neighbors Bank. The bank in Clarence remains, but the shift to NB led to new loan products and a new approach to work: fully remote. We made this decision not as a knee-jerk reaction to conditions, but as a strategic choice to enhance flexibility and grow our team. And grow we did. By about 3700%. We added mortgage services, with an intentional focus on helping those who may otherwise be turned away. And although we do things our own way, we had a pretty sweet playbook from our big sister, Veterans United Home Loans. So, there you have it. We’re a start-up. And we’re almost 80. We’re a small-town community bank. And we’re a nationwide powerhouse mortgage lender. We started in a brick-and-mortar. And now we're remote in 22 states and counting. At Neighbors Bank, our leaders have vision, experience, and integrity. Our people are incredible. And we’re only getting started.
Purpose
At Neighbors Bank, promoting and maintaining a positive company culture is crucial. Sure, everyone says that. But here’s what it means to us. We’re a team of high-achievers who thrive in a high-trust environment. Our values aren’t meant to be written down and occasionally repeated, but lived out daily. John Mayer once sang, “Love is a verb.” Well, John boy, we think the same about culture.
Our culture is caring, fun, and flexible. Although we have a full-time Culture Director to help keep things on track, our culture is defined by our team. And fortunately for us, we hire incredible people.
We like to connect and have fun. We use Slack on the day-to-day, but we also have a company-wide retreat aptly named, All In. We aren’t into overselling, but it’s the most fun you’ll ever have. Ever.
We have volunteer hours so our team members can give back to causes they care about. We offer tons of events and opportunities to connect & learn. No matter what your interests may be, we are sure to have you covered. We also love new ideas and trying things out. We even try out bad ideas sometimes. Just for funsies.

Team members submit applications for individuals, families, and organizations who could use a helping hand, and a committee of elected Neighbors allocates the funds from there. It’s an amazing way to make an even bigger impact.

We always celebrate Hump Day, even if we can’t remember why. We wear t-shirts and we believe that WFH means never having to wear shoes if we don’t want to. We don’t waste time commuting (gross), and we believe work-life balance is best supported through flexibility and trust.
