At Mohawk Opportunities, we are committed to serving individuals and families living with mental illness. Our team of professionals provide person-centered, compassionate, and specialized services to more than 500 individuals each year. In addition, we address challenges that those living with mental illness face including homelessness, HIV, and substance abuse.
Purpose
For over fifty years, Mohawk Opportunities has been a depended-on resource for the hardest, most at risk members of our community. Whether elderly, seriously and persistently mentally ill, or dually diagnosed with a mental health and substance abuse diagnosis, Mohawk steps in to help individuals, and other service providers, where needed most. Our mental health treatment, residential and housing, and community based services work to empower those we serve, while providing guidance and innovate treatment to support wellness and recovery.

The cornerstone of all services offered by Mohawk Opportunities has been, and always will be, a relationship built on a foundation of caring, respect and a sense of hope for the future. From our beginnings in 1968 by the Junior League of Schenectady, we prioritize mental health and our members living successfully in their communities. Our founders believed that every individual should have choices about where they live, what treatment they receive, and how they recover. This belief has never changed.
