Meals on Wheels Central Texas
Part of the Austin community since 1972, Meals on Wheels Central Texas (MOWCTX) takes a holistic approach to keep our clients living independently.
Meals on Wheels Central Texas prepares 3,000 nutritious meals each business day to homebound older adults and people with disabilities. Our small army of 6,500 dedicated volunteers then delivers the food to our clients’ homes. We recognize our clients often require a variety of services in order to be able to live independently. That’s why we offer a wide range of other programs, including in-home personal care; home repair, both major and minor in scope; specialized care for military veterans; rides to and from the grocery store; and extra supplies of shelf-stable foods every month. We also deliver weekly supplies of frozen meals to individuals in rural areas; provide group meals for 13 senior centers in Central Texas; and operate an activity and respite care center called Mike’s Place for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. We even offer basic veterinary care and pet for food for our clients’ furry friends. All of our services are provided free of charge.
