MassHousing
The Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency (MassHousing) is an independent, self-funded agency created in 1966 to confront the Commonwealth's housing challenges. The Agency provides financing to low- and moderate-income homebuyers and homeowners, and to developers who build or preserve mixed-income rental housing. As a mission-driven agency, MassHousing uses housing finance to strengthen communities for Massachusetts’ residents and lay the foundation for economic prosperity. Since its inception, MassHousing has provided more than $30 billion in housing finance.
Purpose
MassHousing’s purpose is to make homeownership accessible. The Agency serves as the Commonwealth’s strategic partner for housing finance and development – with innovative programs to support homeownership, mixed-income rental housing, and climate resilient, healthy homes.
Since its inception, MassHousing has helped more than 92,000 people achieve the dream of homeownership and has produced or preserved more than 91,000 units of rental housing.
