The Lubrizol Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a technology-driven global company that combines complex, specialty chemicals to optimize the quality, performance and value of customers’ products while reducing their environmental impact. It produces and supplies technologies to customers in the global transportation, industrial and consumer markets. These technologies include lubricant additives for engine oils, driveline and other transportation-related fluids, industrial lubricants, as well as additives for gasoline and diesel fuel. In addition, Lubrizol makes ingredients and additives for home care and personal care products and pharmaceuticals, and specialty materials, including plastics technology and performance coatings in the form of specialty resins and additives. Our products for the oilfield market include technologies for exploration, production and transportation. With headquarters in Wickliffe, Ohio, Lubrizol owns and operates manufacturing facilities in 17 countries, as well as sales and technical offices around the world. Founded in 1928, Lubrizol has just under 9,000 employees world wide.

In 2017, we began an initiative to refocus our culture on personal accountability, to empower employees and complement our longstanding reputation as safe, ethical and respectful. The five Cultural Beliefs of our accountable culture are: All In, Lead Decisively, Take Action, Think External, and Be Courageous. All In encourages employees to take accountability by asking “what else can I do.” Lead Decisively challenges team members to make timely and informed decisions, and Take Action encourages timely action and adaptability. Think External accelerates success by exploring new ideas and diverse perspectives. Finally, Be Courageous enables employees to challenge the status quo, take risks and learn from failures.
In 2017, we began a series of workshops for employees to ingrain our Cultural Beliefs in our daily actions. By 2018, 100% of Lubrizol’s approximately 8,700 global employees were trained on the Cultural Beliefs facilitated by 100 employee culture ambassadors leading the session.
