Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s has been family owned for over 53 years. While famous for its legendary deep dish pizza, Lou Malnati’s has always been about more than just its signature Buttercrust. From the very beginning, Lou and Jean Malnati set out to be a company that cared as much about their people as they do about the quality of their pizza. This relational business model has allowed Lou Malnati’s to not only build a unique company culture, but also hold strong relationships with the communities in which they do business. More than half a century later, the core values of Lou Malnati’s continue to guide its people and leaders on how to foster a great workplace while providing top-notch hospitality to their customers. Their culture is centered around a relentless pursuit of excellence and an inspiration to grow personally and professionally, all while having fun together. Now with 80 locations across four states, Lou Malnati’s remains committed
Additional Culture Details
Lou Malnati’s has been committed to building strong culture since first opening its doors in 1971. In the more than half a century since, the company has grown to 80 locations across four markets, but the culture has remained intact. A big reason for this is the company standing firm on its care values of THE GIFT (Teamwork, Hospitality, Excellence, Growth, Integrity, Family, and Tradition). These values have been instilled in every team member who has joined the company in those 53 years, which has led to 10 percent of their full-time staff having a retention rate of 10 years or more, well above industry average. This commitment and loyalty from their people, along with the constant investment in both personal and professional growth by the company, allows Lou’s to reward their most outstanding workers through internal promotions. Both of Lou’s Regional Directors, along with several District Managers, started with the company in entry level positions. This is something Lou’s takes a great deal of pride in and is an excellent way of maintaining the strong culture they pride themselves on. Those who stay are of course recognized for their loyalty to the Lou’s brand in more ways than promotions. Each year, team members at all levels of the company are celebrated for their milestone anniversaries (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years) and receive a gift from the company as their way of saying thank you for all they have done for Lou’s. “Care” has been a word used by the company from the
