On October 7, 1929, Glenn L. Martin opened his operations in Middle River, Maryland, the home of today's Lockheed Martin Baltimore.

For almost 40 years, Lockheed Martin Baltimore employees have been responsible for the production of the MK 41 Vertical Launching System – the launcher of choice for the U.S. Navy and 12 allied navies.
As a responsible corporate citizen, Lockheed Martin plays an active role in helping to strengthen the quality of life in our country and the communities where we live and work. In 2018, Lockheed Martin Baltimore employees volunteered 3,000 hours in the community.
