Kalani Consulting, Inc.
We are a services company providing Information Technology and Management Consulting expertise to serve our Federal and Commercial customers. Our growth over the last two years has allowed us to live up to our employee and customer centric ethos. Essentially, we are living proof that “a rising tide (more business coming in our door) floats all boats.” Our management philosophy drives the entire management chain to reinvest in our greatest assets, our people. The growth, reflected on the top and bottom lines, is applied within the context of our philosophy of employee care. We believe that this reinvestment compounds our growth in this highly competitive business where the “product” to our customers is embodied in the services our employees provide.
Purpose
Kalani Consulting, Inc. (KCI) is an Information Technology and Management Services company founded in 2009 with headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia. We strive to establish a partnership of trust with our customers, to enable their vision, and maximize the return on investment for every program. We do this using the management expertise gained through many years of successful delivery of efficient and effective information technology-based services to our Federal Government and Commercial customers. KCI is equally committed to our employees. We believe that taking care of those who work the closest with our customers potentiates the quality of our services. Our sustained consistent growth stems from our integrity – we are a trusted partner who shares in our customer’s goals.
Vision
Kalani Consulting, Inc.’s very name indicates something special about our company. In Hawaii, Kalani can mean either “of the heavens,” or “royal.” Kalani is also the middle name of our founder, Duane Michael Kalani Nathaniel, who is, by birth, Hawaiian. Since our founding in 2009, we have strived towards maintaining a supportive and nurturing culture for all our employees. In fact, our signature line, and the basis of our corporate ethos, includes the Hawaiian phrase "Ho'oulu kekahi i kekahi” which translates to “Growing and uplifting one another." Our friendly culture pervades our interactions with our employees and our customers and is supported by the comments we routinely receive from current and past employees through surveys and unsolicited comments. We do keep in touch with previous employees, and they keep in touch with us as well. In fact, we’ve had employees come back to Kalani Consulting. Although our employees are dispersed across the country, and our support staff works remotely, Kalani Consulting strives for, attains, and fosters a family-oriented environment. Our staff and leadership are supportive and continually looking for different ways to increase employee satisfaction. The feedback we get from our employees is put into action - this increases satisfaction and results in dedicated employees.
Mission
Our mission at KCI is to provide lasting IT and business solutions using our knowledge, experience, and dedication. We produce quality results, on-time, and on budget. Our professionals leverage their years of leadership expertise to deliver efficient service in the execution of this mission. Our employees wholeheartedly buy into this mission because we wholeheartedly buy into them.
Additional Culture Details
KCI loves bragging on our “Ohana! From regular “thank you, great job” texts and emails to significant bonuses and promotions, we recognize employee achievements every chance we get. Some of the ways we acknowledge achievements are: • Spot Awards: These are electronic gift cards that are awarded almost immediately after hearing of an accomplishment or a kudo. The gift card comes with an encouraging note from our CEO. • Excellence Awards: This is a significant monetary award given for going above and beyond. The award is accompanied by a note thanking the employee for a specific contribution or accomplishment. • Newsletter: The company newsletter is used for many types of recognition. We highlight a different employee every month with a photo and short bio. We also celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Any awards employees receive are also noted in the newsletter. • Events: We were nominated for a Small and Emerging Contractor’s Advisory Forum’s (SECAF) Government Contractor of the Year Award. Rather than only the Executives attending, we purchased an entire table so that many of our employees could attend as well. • SWAG: We are so proud of our ‘Ohana we want them to be our walking advertisement! We also use it to say “thank you”! Recently, we decided to let the employees choose which items they wanted – it was a huge success!
