Impinj
Purpose
If you’ve purchased apparel from a retailer like Macy’s or Zara, run a race like the New York City Marathon, enjoyed a drink from a Coca-Cola Freestyle soda fountain, or checked bags with Delta Airlines, then you’ve probably interacted with Impinj, a company that pioneered a kind of RFID, called RAIN, which enables wireless connectivity for everything that is manufactured, transported, and sold, delivering real-time data that informs inventory and asset management, baggage tracking, shipment verification, supply chain automation, brand protection, and more. RAIN is a powerful technology for global enterprises because it is cost-effective, durable, and fast. Tags that attach to items cost pennies, don’t require batteries to communicate, and can be read at high speeds and volumes without line-of-sight–up to 1,000 items per second over a 30-foot range, through materials such as cartons, boxes, and wood. Our people, products, and vision are focused on connecting every thing in our everyday world so that people can work efficiently, make smart decisions, and create delightful experiences that make the world a better place. When we say every thing, we mean Every Thing. And it’s where Impinj has been focused since our beginning. From networked devices to perishable goods, inventory to consumables. We’re inventing ways to overcome barriers of performance, security, durability, privacy, complexity, and cost, to bring more things online.
Vision
Our vision is a boundless Internet of Things that makes the world a better place by protecting people, items and the environment. We lead the RAIN RFID market in connecting and delivering information about items. We envision a world in which every item that enterprises manufacture, transport and sell, and that people own, use and recycle, is wirelessly and ubiquitously connected to the cloud. And a world in which the ownership, history and linked information for every one of those items is seamlessly available to enterprises and people. We call our expansive vision a Boundless Internet of Things, or IoT, and we are well on our way to realizing it.
Mission
Our mission is to connect every thing. We use a type of radio-frequency identification, or RFID technology known as RAIN for the ubiquitous, wireless item-to-cloud connectivity. We sell a suite of products that we and our partner ecosystem use to connect and deliver item data to enterprises. We have enabled connectivity for more than 95 items to date, delivering item visibility and improving operational efficiencies for retailers, supply chain and logistics, or SC&L providers, restaurants and food-service providers, airlines, automobile manufacturers, healthcare companies and many more. We are today focused on extending item connectivity from tens of billions to trillions of items, and delivering item data not just to enterprises but to people, so they too can derive value from their connected items. We believe the Boundless IoT we are enabling will, in the not-too-distant future, give people ubiquitous access to cloud-based digital twins of every item, each storing the item’s history and linked information and helping people explore and learn about the item. We believe that connectivity will transform the world.
Additional Culture Details

Our corporate culture embodies a set of principles centered around respect, collaboration, accountability, empowerment and thinking big. Our principles, culture and inventiveness define who we are, how we lead our market and how we deliver financial success for our employees and investors.
