Additional Culture Details
Hospital for Special Care is committed to improving the health and well-being of our community. From adaptive sports and therapeutic horseback riding, to aquatics and art programs, we provide resources for individuals of all ages and all abilities. HFSC also supports early career professionals in health care and related fields by providing student placements and clinical training opportunities for diverse students from across Connecticut and beyond. The hospital administers scholarship programs for nurses, physicians, physical therapists and certified nurse’s assistants made possible by donors to support emerging healthcare heroes. HFSC also operated volunteer-powered programs that collect donations of durable medical equipment and loan those items out to the community at no cost, and collaborates with dozens of community-based organizations each year to support vocational, recreational and patient support services. During the COVID-19 pandemic – our support for community even extended to loaning ventilators to our acute care hospital colleagues to meet patient needs as infection rates surged in the community.
