Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County
We believe every child deserves a healthy smile. Our goal is to improve children’s lives by combatting oral disease. One in three OC children suffer from untreated tooth decay which leads to emergency room visits, lower GPAs, school absenteeism, and difficulty eating, speaking, and learning.
Since 2003, our clinics and school-based programs have provided crucial dental services to the underserved children of Orange County. Our mission is to improve the oral health and well-being of children in Orange County through collaborative programs aimed at prevention, outreach and education, access to treatment, and advocacy. We have served approximately 1 million children and families since our inception.
Healthy Smiles is the only safety-net pediatric dental clinic in Orange County that provides general anesthesia and other sedation services for children with special healthcare needs through our partnerships with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and CHOC Children's Hospital.

Our purpose is to help every child receive quality dental care and a happy and healthy smile.
Vision
We envision a world where every child has access to quality dental care and where oral health and overall health have been integrated. We believe that every child deserves an equal chance to go to college, apply for a job, express themselves freely, and be comfortable speaking in public. Children deserve to live pain-free lives, chew their food, sleep well at night, and attend school free of dental problems.

Additional Culture Details
FY 2019-2020: Employee turnover only 3% (only 2 people left the organization due to relocation.
Many of our employees have been with us since our inception in 2003 and have held 7 or more jobs through promotions using our career-pathing program.
We hold beach bonfires, spirit weeks, employee appreciation days, and holiday parties every year.
We offer Leadership Training throughout the year for employees interested in making a bigger difference in our organization.
Fishbowl Notes: Employees periodically write thank you notes to each other and drop them in our fishbowls (located in both our clinic and admin office). Every couple of weeks employees gather and a few notes are chosen from the bowl. The receiver of the thank you notes wins a gift card!
Sushi and Thai Trains: “Sushi Trains” in our admin office and “Thai Trains” in our clinic are a tradition where our CEO spontaneously visits every cubicle and invites the employee out to lunch. Anywhere from 5-40 employees will gather to eat lunch and talk to team members that they wouldn’t normally interact with on a regular basis.
Gingerbread House competition: During our winter time All Staff Meeting, our employees are split into groups to face-off in our Gingerbread House competition. The competition is fierce but employees look forward to it every year!
Turkey Giving: During Thanksgiving, our leadership team hands every employee a turkey or chicken for their holiday family meal.
