Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston
Healthcare for the Homeless – Houston’s (HHH) mission is to promote health, hope and dignity for Houston's homeless through accessible and comprehensive care.
HHH was established in 1999 and became Houston’s third Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2002. Since our founding as a two-exam room clinic with an adjacent dental chair in the corner of a crowded day shelter, we have grown to operate three integrated care clinics throughout central Houston, a full scale dental clinic and extensive specialized programming that serves various sub-populations of homeless Houstonians. As Houston's only stand-alone FQHC that exclusively provides homeless-specific care, our services are unduplicated and fill a broad gap in the local safety net system.
Those served continue to be on the farthest margins of society and continue to face the steepest barriers to care. Eighty-nine percent (89%) of those served by HHH have no form of health insurance, and Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement remains <1% of the annual operating revenue.

To provide health and support services tailored to the unique needs of homeless individuals as means of improving overall health status and likelihood of exiting homelessness; To systemically impact the overutilization of public resources (i.e. public emergency centers/hospital for preventable care and the county jail for mental health services).
