Health Care Logistics®
At Health Care Logistics® (HCL®), thinking differently is more than a mindset — it’s the foundation for the company’s success. Since its beginning in 1978, HCL® has embraced innovation, adaptability and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Purpose
While working for a major pharmaceutical company, HCL® Owner Gary Sharpe recognized the potential for a niche market in the medical supply industry. He discovered that transitioning hospitals to unit dose drug distribution and centralized IV production created opportunities for specialized packaging solutions.
When that company sold its U.S. operations, Sharpe seized the moment and launched his own business — operating from his central Ohio home. A spare bedroom served as an office and the garage doubled as a manufacturing plant and warehouse.
From those humble beginnings, HCL® has grown into a thriving enterprise with more than 13,000 active accounts. Today, the company occupies 417,000 square feet of meticulously maintained warehouse space and employs more than 350 dedicated professionals who prioritize exceptional customer service at every level of operations.
With an inventory that now includes more than 9,000 products, HCL® meets the diverse supply needs of hospitals, pharmacies, chain drug stores and pharmaceutical providers across all 50 states and in 30 countries.
Favored offerings include free samples, 15-day product evaluations, small order quantities and same-day shipping for in-stock items. If a customer wants a product that isn’t in the company’s inventory, HCL® will find it at no extra charge or manufacture a custom solution and ship it in as few as five business days.

Vision
Now led by the next generation of the Sharpe family, HCL® continues to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape while remaining focused on its core mission: fostering strong, lasting relationships with customers and employees alike.
“Our focus has always been on the customer … and on our people and taking care of them,” said Sharpe’s daughter, HCL® President Bethany Reid, together with her brother, HCL® President Kyle Sharpe. “And I credit that completely to our father for setting that up and then instilling that in us.”
