Haven for Hope
The Haven for Hope mission is to offer a place of hope and new beginnings. We do this by providing, coordinating and delivering an efficient system of care for people experiencing homelessness in San Antonio. Haven for Hope and our partners, address the root causes of homelessness by offering programming tailored to the specific needs of the individual. Our approach is person-centered, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented. The goal is to meet individuals where they are and support them as they move toward self-sufficiency. Haven for Hope is more than a shelter, it is a transformational campus.
Purpose
Haven for Hope is a one-of-a-kind 22-acre campus for single men, women and families with children who are emerging from homelessness. Haven also offers a low-barrier shelter for those in need. Our services reach far beyond those of a traditional homeless shelter. Providing food, clothing, and shelter is only a fraction of what can be done to help those experiencing homelessness. While these basic necessities play a large role in providing immediate relief, they are not long-term solutions. Therefore, to address the individual needs of people experiencing homelessness, Haven collaborates with over 77 partner organizations to provide comprehensive services, in a centralized location, to more than 1,600 men, women, and children daily. Our goal is to provide individuals with the tools necessary to move towards self-sufficiency and independent living in permanent housing.
At Haven for Hope, care involves helping individuals "transition" from homelessness by gaining housing and working with clients to identify and support their own steps towards recovery from conditions such as poverty, mental health, substance abuse, trauma, or other challenges. Some of the services offered include outreach, case management, education, financial counseling, benefits access, housing search assistance, rental support, permanent supportive housing, rapid-rehousing,
