Additional Culture Details
Our agency culture is a reflection of our founders, Fred and Sarah Haberman. Which is to say that we value curiosity, kindness, adaptability, creativity and risk-taking.
We take great pride in matching our storytellers’ passions with the work they get to do everyday. We believe that passion plus advocacy equals results, which is why we pursue clients and projects that excite our team. It’s a win-win for our clients and our staff.
We think of ourselves as a tribe. It’s important to us to nurture a genuine sense of belonging—which lends itself to organic conversations, collaboration and fun. No one’s surprised, for example, when an impromptu dance party breaks out in the lobby. Ping-pong matches spring up most afternoons. Spontaneous gatherings for lunches, happy hours and walks are the norm.
When we feel the need to more formally build the team, we look to our Fun Committee. They organize celebrations of all kinds, from pancake breakfasts to baseball games to epic holiday parties. We have weekly lunch meetings for the entire team to get together and celebrate achievements, birthdays, anniversaries—whatever is important in the lives and work of our storytellers.
In the summer, our office space expands to our agency farm west of downtown: the Dude Ranch. Employees and their families weed, plant, harvest and deliver the bounty for fellow staffers throughout the season. We also end the season with a garden party for all employees and their families.
Organic food is a passion for our team, and that’s one of the reasons Haberman co-founded Urban Organics, the cutting-edge urban farm in the historic Hamm’s Brewery in St. Paul. This is one of our "experiential learning" opportunities.
Another benefit of summer? Summer Fridays. Employees love being able to take off early—around lunchtime—to enjoy some sun and heat. Another opportunity to get away comes during our semi-annual retreats. At Camp Haberman, storytellers reflect on the past year, focus on goals for the next year and have some fun.
In the spirit of kindness and philanthropy—values that matter deeply to our founders—we offer employees a paid day off to volunteer for the cause of their choice. They’re also encouraged to pursue passion projects and share the experience with the agency.
