Greenwich Emergency Medical Service
Greenwich Emergency Medical Service (GEMS), a not-for-profit organization, is the sole provider of emergency services to the Town of Greenwich. Our mission is to provide the highest level of pre-hospital and emergency medical care to reduce the risk of death and disability due to trauma and sudden illness. We operate 24/7 out of four stations with a fleet of seven state-of-the-art ambulances and have consistently averaged a response time of less than five minutes — considerably shorter than the national average. Of note, GEMS cardiac arrest save rate is twice as high as the best in the nation.
As a not-for-profit organization, GEMS raises the funds for all of its capital expenditures, including its ambulances and state of the art equipment inside, through generous contributions from the Greenwich community.
