Merle R. Weaver chartered Green Belt Bank & Trust in 1986 by purchasing the former Citizens State Bank of Iowa Falls from the FDIC. The bank has created three non-traditional subsidiaries. Green Belt Insurance Services began in 1996. The Jennings Insurance Agency & Real Estate Services was purchased in 2008. In 2001, the bank entered into an Investment Center Services Agreement with Salomon Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney) to offer investment brokerage services.
