Gateway’s mission is to help individuals living with mental illness recover and return to school, work, and independent living in the community. For almost 30 years, Gateway has been committed to filling the critical gaps in the housing and healthcare services available to individuals with serious mental illness. Clients begin their mental health treatment and rehabilitation in a twenty four hour care center, then transition into supervised apartments, develop a plan for community living, and finally transition into affordable housing in the community. When individuals graduate to independent living in the community, Gateway continues to provide residents with any transitional support they need, including assistance with their academic pursuits or maintaining their employment. After a period of satisfactory adjustment to community life, Gateway helps individuals connect with the resources and support in the community needed to sustain their long-term goals of recovery and independence. Most significantly, our entire community benefits when individuals are empowered to become independent and productive in our community.
