Garrison Forest School
Founded in 1910, Garrison Forest School empowers students to realize their full potential and live lives of purpose. Garrison Forest is an independent, girls’ day school, K-12th, with a regional, national and international boarding program beginning in 8th Grade, and a coed preschool beginning with a Twos program. In 2009, Garrison Forest was recognized as a Confucius Classroom, the first among Maryland’s independent schools and one of only a handful in the U.S. Since 2005, Garrison Forest has partnership with Johns Hopkins University for the Women In Science and Engineering (WISE) mentorship program to place students in Hopkins’ research labs. In 2008, the school launched the James Center, an organization for students that brings together all curricular and co-curricular programs in STEM, financial literacy, leadership development and service. GFS established the Center after receiving funding from the E.E. Ford Foundation as one of five independent schools nationwide to be selected for the foundation's inaugural funding to create innovative programs.
